Transformational leadership requires a belief in self, an awareness of others’ strengths and perceived ways of knowing, as well as a keen sense of the why and how to capacity building. We will consider four ways to leverage talent and tenacity in school communities predicated upon relationships, resources, redesign, and relevance. We will also confront the oxymoron of overachievement that weaves its way into cultures resistant to change. As change agents and stewards of culture, there are some things we inherit and others we have the opportunity to create, and the purpose of this talk is to dig into the complexities of our work as educators, leaders, and innovators.
